think this is a bridge or nut issue? The D strings buzz ocassionally and I have changed strings already. Also, when played open in tune but they are both sharp about 10 cents or more when fretted. sounds like a trip to the shop to me. All other strings are fine, no buzzing and intonation is almost perfect up and down the neck.

Do I think this is a bridge or nut issue? Yes. More likely the bridge. Almost perfect up and down the neck is often the best one can hope for. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif

I had some buzzing on my C string on a mandola after I put on newer and thicker strings. I used a round needle file to improve the connection of the string and the nut...using the angle of the nut as the guide...and now my problem is over! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Along the same lines and so that I don't create a new post:

I'm getting a buzz on D and A strings right on the 10th fret. Not anywhere else. I know it sounds weird. But it's true. I've adjusted the action up and down, re-tuned a dozen times, but I'm still getting the buzz (actually it's more of a muffling of tone, kinda like what you'd get if you tried to put aluminum foil over your mouth while talking).

I have an Epiphone MM-50. When I wanted to polish it and clean it after a year of playing, I removed all the strings and unfortunately moved the bridge. When I put it back, the sound was never the same, resulting in this buzzing. I've moved the bridge toward the neck and away from it, trying to get the right intonation but it's impossible. When G and D are in tone, A and E are sharp. When A and E are close to be in tone, G and D are not... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

I should mention that the bridge was slightly positioned toward the neck on the E and A strings when I first got the mandolin. But very slightly. I tried to replicate that positioning based on the pressure marks of the bridge on the top but can't seem to be able to find a happy medium.

I have no idea what's up and why I'm getting a buzz only on the 10th fret of D and A strings. Any clues or advice is greatly appreciated. #

Thank you all.
