Hi Folks!

Why don't I see any posts about Krishot mandolins? #I bought one (F5 Fern model) about a year and a half ago and haven't wanted to play anything else since. #The tone is wonderful and they are very comfortable to play -- at least to me. #

What's the word out there, am I the only one that plays a Krishot?

A local player here has one and it's a great sounding Mandolin. There aren't a lot around, are there? I did check out a couple at the Pickin' Parlor in Colorado a couple weeks back. They're very nice instruments.

I don't see that many, but I like the ones I see.

Best,
Ken

I bought a Fern model about a year and a half ago from Byron Berline. It has really opened up in the past 3 months. Kristufek sells all he can build so there's no need to advertise. BTW Byron has another one in his store at this time.

Eduard Kristufek is the guy who builds the Krishot -- and he's a GREAT mandolin player himself. That's probably why the tone is so developed -- he knows what players are looking for.

August, my friend Bryan Kimsey said to remind you that you've played his Krishot and wondered what you thought of it.

This reminds me that Bryan Kimsey has a mandolin comparison sound file on his website. He out his Krishot up against a '95 Gilchrist F5.

(Click on Music, then click on Sound Clips. The file is a rendition of Whiskey Before Breakfast)

Personally I like every Czech mandolin I've ever heard (a Holoubek, a Janisch, 2 Krishots, and a Capek --I own the Capek).

I have a '96 Krishot. I have yet to see another that plays and feels like this.

There are some sound clips on my former band's webpage (http://www.bluegrass.sk/steam/english/mp3.html).
There is a part of my mandolin solo in the "Three Free Cans" I don't know about other clips. All Played on my Krishot (some with very old strings - 10 months http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

Yes, I got to play Bryan's Krishot at Kaufman Kamp last summer. It was a hoss! #Very well-tuned for bluegrass, with excellent traditional F5 tone. It also had superior clarity, balance and sustain, rarely found in this price range.

How's it developing? Can't wait to hear it again!
