Thank you, Scotti; I hope you have a great day, too! I have a renewed appreciation for being around at age 71. Last Friday I had my second total hip replacement surgery, the same day my only child had her third chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. We are both looking forward to Father's Day together more now than ever before! Might even do a little mandolin-pickin' for the pure joy of it.

..that should be a day full of memories..and for memories to be made. Have a grand day.

Already great! My oldest daughter announced she was expecting my second grandchild in January and my youngest daughter got married last weekend. I picked up another grandson from that as well.

Thanks Scotti. # Nothing too special going on - heading to a high school graduation open house for a fine young man who used to play music with me at church. #I 'coached' him on guitar for years - since he was about 12 - and he's still at it. #

(Like me, he had to find another Parish after our pastor negated the folk Mass and I'm glad to see he's doing so in another church!) #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

With any luck, my two kids will remember it's Dad's day! # #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

That is a great photo, Ted. Your daughter is very pretty.

My adult daughters will both be out of town on FD. I'm headed out to my Dad's house with my wife and my brother's family for a luncheon. Then I'm playing mando at church. It should be a good day.

Great Photo Ted and Happy Father's day all around. I spent mine at the barn where my kids rode with their mother while I snapped photos and played some Uke under a mulberry tree. Then we had a nice swim, and a Gator ride to go throw food at the fish in the farmer's pond. Life is good... sweet corn and steaks on the grill. Who needs to work tomorrow... me, but I may not want too!

BTW... hoping this isn't an inappropriate use of this thread... For fathers of young boys like me who have a great deal of Thomas stuff in your house, go to the following for info on a Thomas the Tank engine toy recall (http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07212.html#http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07212.html) because of lead paint on the toys.

Figured this was the safest place to FW this along. Have a great father's day!

Thanks for the post Scotti..and the great photo Ted!

It's been a wonderful day!

My Pop who is 83 going on 21 is having a good day.

I've seen or heard from all the kids, including all of the ones who have moved away and the one currently in the Navy.

The 13 year old (Sam) is in his room wailing away on his trusty Fender Squire Bullet... as I type this, he is alternating between: the kick-off to "Sweet Home Alabama"...the classic break to "Folsom Prison Blues"...and...the chord progression to Don Reno's "Follow the Leader". Wonder where he got that eclectic side... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hope everyone has a happy Father's Day! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Watch out GospelMando, GAS hits about as hard as MAS. My 13 year old has been in the habit of requesting guitar money for Xmas and birthday for the last few years and now has his Squire up for sale while he wails on either his (Mexican) Fender strat or his Epi Les Paul through his Marshal (usually playing either Crazy Train or Iron Man). (Hey he's playing music and not a game boy. . .I'm happy).

my day was going great until I got outbid on a lefty guitar in the last 5 seconds of the auction http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif #Just an old Ovation Applause AA-31 but still would have been a nice member of the family. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

My boys gave me a great Father's Day when I got home from work today. Sometimes they drive me nuts, but they make it up on days like today http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

We had a nice family day at the annual North Beach street festival in San Francisco. North Beach is basically SF's "Little Italy" (as well as the home of SF's Beat Scene way back when), and we were able to take in some live Italian mandolin music, as well as our fill of pizza, gelato, espresso, tiramisu, and satay chicken http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif (there's a Thai restaurant in the neighborhood as well)
