Composition competition

Hey guys, hope I'm posting in the right place...

Do any of you fancy an informal competition, maybe Scott or a couple of other professional musicians would be willing to judge??

Can't offer any prizes as I'm simply a student!! skint!

But think it would be cool to do... I've been jotting some things down and would like to have a purpose for it..

Any takers?

It would be great to hear some compositions from the members here, but personally I think the whole point of making music is compromised when it turns into competition. (IMHO) There's no better and best tunes, no good and bad per se, just ones you like better, and ones that somebody else likes better, like a favorite color.

Need a purpose? Record it, share it, enjoy it. I'd love to hear what you've got.

Maybe, how about a composition potluck, maybe themed, perhaps in a certain time/key signature, or using a set 4- or 5-note motif, and see where people go with it? But somebody would have to set up the file sharing to make it work.

yeah that sounds like a good idea... I get where you are coming from with the competition view - I just want something to focus my thinking at the moment I guess.
