I recently acquired three Vega banjo mandolin necks with the idea of using them for wooden bodied mandolins, either flattop or carved. The dowel sticks have all been removed. Any suggestions on how to use them? Any caveats? Was it a bad idea?

Jim, tell me how this works out. I would be interested in buying them for the"future reference" pile at me shop.By the way ,I have no ideas.

Jim,

From what I have seen on those necks, theres not alot of meat there to make a dovetail, perhaps some other type of joint may work. Bolt on or through body like the old Larson
ideas. I also have a couple that are very nicely made and decorated, but haven't gotten the motivation/time to create something out of them. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thru body rim sticks !
I used to have a Fender [villager(?)] 12 string guitar, with a bar that ran thru the body, I think it was pipe.

Perhaps run along the back U shape http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gifhttp://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
