Web cam

I have been using a web cam to record video and for web cam lessons. When I record video it is less than smooth in the playback, the video detail for finger movements is blurry and choppy. I have watched several other folks web cam clips and mine seems much worse.

The equipment is a Logitech "ball-type" that sits on top of the computer. From what I was told it is one of the more preferable models for quality.

Any insight?
