I am hoping someone can identify the instrument at 1:08 of this you tube song.
Thanks

After a hard day ropin' dogies the cowboys of the old west loved to unwind with a little mandocello music. I thought everyone knew that.

Had dinner with the widow Autry in January. She's got a collection of celebrity photos and memorabilia that is just incredible. I only knew Gene a little, and he was not doing much singing or playing at that late date. Local "royalty" here where I live. Frank

I lived in Victorville for years and was in the process of buying in Apple Valley when things changed, I got to see Roy and Dale in town once but that was it. I wish I could of gotten to know some of the old sining cowboys. I did get to talk with some old timers from that era and they were a hoot.

The must see Gene Autry is the 1935 serial, The Phantom Empire (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026867/), (not to be confused with The Phantom Menace), although this one ALSO has robots and an advanced underground civilization, with Gene singing above ground. In 1940 the serial was edited together to make a feature film, and was released as both Radio Ranch, and Men With Steel Faces. It's available, cheap, and highly recommended for the music and wackiness.

Jim cool pic. IS that also a K2 mandocello and an F4? HAHA I was looking at the funny horn then realized it is a mic stand. Doh. See what happens when the first thing you do is go to the cafe in the morning even before you're fully awake! For good dreams I always stop here before bed also. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Several years ago when Richard Walz had a class in #Iowa City a gentleman brought in his K4 and I have fascinated by the thought of owning one ever sense. Really a great sounding instrument.
