Hi,

My mother in law has an old Italian mandolin from her grandfather and I was wondering if anybody knows anything about the manufacturer. The manufacturer is:
Brevettata Fabrica Di Strumenti
Musicalia Chorda
Giuseppe Casini
Napoli
It has some other numbers on the inside that I can't make out.
Any help would be great

This is the right place to find out, someone will know.

I would love to see some pictures.

I have a couple of G. Casinis in my jpeg files. This one resembles the Vinaccia school.

Here is the label and soundhole from the last one.

I think the label translates:
Patented Maker of Instruments
Musical Strings

There were probably hundreds of mandolin makers in Napoli (Naples) from the 1890s thru the 1920s. It is difficult to find any further information on these than what is on the label. Some who also made violins are in the violin maker listings but many are not.

I am looking fwd to seeing some photos of your Casini mandolin.
