Okay, I'm way too hung up on replacing my TRC for something a little more spiffy. I've been pointed to a few great sources for MOP covers (thanks everyone) but I'd like to find a silver cover to match the tailpeice and I've had no luck. Any help is much appreciated. Even a source for suitable stock so I could cut my own would be great. Thanks for reading.

I have nickel and nickel-silver sheet, but I think you'd be much better off making your replacement from brass sheet and having it nickel-plated. You said silver, but I assume you meant that color generally, yes? And you didn't say what kind of tailpiece you're trying to cover. Is it a basic Gibson-style cover?

I think he's looking for a truss rod cover.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'm after a truss rod cover, not a tailpiece cover. The tailpiece cover is silver plated and has a satin finish rather than a shiny polished look.

Ah, you're right. Why was I thinking tpc cover? Jeremy, I have some nickel sheet for you, contact me off-list.

Gibson factory in '22 put nickel plated truss rod cover on the A4 I have,
perhaps to call attention to the new feature?

an A'0' from same year that I got [in the mid 80s] is T-rodless .

Jewelry and knifemaker suppliers usually carry silver or nickel in sheets.

While it is more expensive than brass, if you intend to have it plated afterwards, it's probably cheaper to buy the real stuff to begin with.

Trophy shops have sheet in different colors...gold, silver, brass, etc...It is easy to cut and the trophy shop can engrave it. #I used a piece of brass sheet with a black finish on it for a TRC on my banjo. I then had the shop engrave my intitials. It looks very nice and cost about $ 2.00. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
