I received my MM-2 from Mid Missouri yesterday, via Folk of the Wood. #Here are my comments.

Folk of the Wood is a terrific shop: I got an excellent trade in value.

Now, to the MM-2. #Having played (well, I can't really play, but put that aside) two other Mandolins, I've come to the conclusion that they should pack an MM-2 into the starter kit of any new mandolinist. #It is very easy to play.

I'm not sure about the bluegrass sound but, other than a slight reduction in volume (which is actually a selling point when you're learning), it has a rich sound, not tinny at all.

So, there you go.

Congrats on your new mandolin, and good luck in progressing as musician and mandolin player. I have a few questions about Folk of the wood in regards to their trade-in policy. First off, do they accept instruments on trade-in that they don't sell on their sight? Also, how generous are they with trade-in values? Can you give me an approximate percent of retail value that they gave you for your old one?

Thanks in advance,
Nathaniel

I have a m-11 and it plays like butter. I'm very happy with it. As far as bluegrass, it certainly isn't a banjo killer but ease of playability sure make up for it. I would recommend a Mid Mo to anyone starting out.
