Just a heads up; one just appeared for sale on the Dream Guitars website with a sound clip. Sounded very good. NFI.

Nice sounding mandolin. Out of my range for the time being. I can only imagine the things I could do with that mandolin...

A wonderful piece. I have a child for sale to finance it, but I have little hope of an unencumbered sale.

With the strong £ to $ exchange rate, that's a good buy if you're over here in the UK, if you ask me. It's been a long time since I saw a cedar toped 8 string Sobell, and they are lovely. Ian Macleod (ex Shooglenifty) and Dagger Gordon both have cedar topped 10 stringers, I think, and the wee bodied ones sound great too.

As does the cedar, warm and ringy.

You won't see much better than this if you're after a Sobell. They are very scarce second hand.

I had a chance to play this last week and I have to say it caught me by surprise. I was completly blown away. Much bigger neck than I'm used to from playing traditional American mandolins and very comfortable. The sound was huge. Bach sounded incredible as well as anything "celtic" of course. Time for some lottery tickets.
