Open neck joint

I have roundback Suzuki mandolin (model R-6) which is unplayable due to a neck joint opening up. Should I just reglue with hide glue and clamp, or should I add some pins. Any other suggestions?

Without a photo it's hard to say. I'd remove the fretboard and find what kind of joint it is. If dovetail, maybe some shiming is in order, then regluing. With the fretboard off you can better diagnos the situation. SOunds like a sloppy fit to me.
