I'm excited that XM is going to carry Merlefest this year, and plan to listen to as much as I can. #However, does anyone know a good and relatively easy way to record those portions I'll have to miss so that I can listen later?

. . . "record" may be a little to vague.

Perhaps I should explain that I have XM through my computer and I'm looking for a way to save, presumably as digital files, the portions of Merlefest I will not be able to listen to live, so that I can listen later. Anyone have experience with this type of operation?

I don't intend to infringe anyone's copyright, but my understanding is that it is generally okay to record broadcasts for your own limited and personal use---like recording a tv show you'll have to miss so that you can watch it later. Hope this doesn't open a can of worms, that's not my intent.

respectfully,

Yes, there are ways to record from your computer. I've used Audacity to record streaming audio. It can be setup to record anything going through your soundcard. Another way is to take the stereo output (headphone out) as input into something else (mp3, MD, or ?). Very simple, very easy. Not the greatest quality at all times, but it's do-able.
Best,

I have the MYFI/XM2go that allows hours of recording then playing back. I'll probably just record and then listen later. I did this the last couple years for the times I wasn't able to listen live. Never got into finding a way to save the recorded sessions, I usually just record over and move on.

Anyone catch any of Merlefest on XM? I really enjoyed it, especially after reading the replies from those that where.
OOH I would have loved to have been there!!

I was able to listen to much of Merlefest. Really enjoyed it and I too would have loved to have been there!

Thanks Ken and djidaho for your suggestions about recording.
