What are the body dimensions of a Gibson mandocello?
I've been milling some tops from split spruce billets and was wondering what I need for a cello top.

I am not a builder, but my instructor, Curtis Buckhannon, has a Gibson mandocello and I will have a lesson with him this weekend. If there is some thing you want me to measure on it, I will be happy to do so. Send me a PM with instructions.
Well this ones not a Monteleone not a Gibson but it should give a visual reference as to the size involved. Ted has another picture of on this thread Mandocello (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=12;t=15276;st=0)

Funny thing is I sat maybe 4 feet from that instrument a month or so ago when I went to see Mike Marshal and Darryl Anger. I talked with Mike, played his Loar, showed him a couple of my mandolins, but it never crossed my mind to check out the cello!
That thing has a great sound BTW.

There's a kid that just rode by on a bike, had a cello case under his arm. Maybe I can stop him and measure.

I don't think that one's a Gibson, but If you can get it for me there might be a reward involved.
I have both a Gibson and a Lyon and Healy Mandocello, the Gibson is about 14.5" x19" and the Lyon and Healy is 15" x 20". This are the minimum demensions.

Man my knees hurt. Have you ever tried to ride a bike, hold a big guitar case thinghy and dodge trash cans at the same time?
