here are a couple of interesting recordings on archive.org. I'm sure some of you have heard them but hear they are. the first one is the Aiken County String Band (http://www.archive.org/details/Sheriff) doing "High Sheriff" from 1927,

the next one is Sleepy John Estes and Yank Rachell (http://www.archive.org/details/BlackMattie) doing "Black Mattie Blues" from 1929. some really cool stuff from the early recording days

Thanks for posting this, really enjoy that grove, I'm sure it has been covered before somewhere on this discussion board, but does Yank Rachell use a non-standard tuning on this?

Yank is noted for tuning down, so his G positions put him in the key of E.
