I have been thinking about my cheater 'F' chop chord
(1-0-3-5). I just mute the 'A' string.
So I decided to try to find something a little more exceptable.
The cafe's chart (5-7-8-10) is an awful long way from a Gm chop (3-1-5-7) (Lots of old timey in the Key of 'F')
Either I am happy with what I am doing or I get a great alternative from you guys to save me from getting off my lazy butt and working on the chord change.
Dening the inevitable,
S.

Here's a chop F but I'm listing it starting with the Low G (opposite of yours):
2-3-3
You can also add the high A on the E string thusly:
2-3-3-5
Try one of these....
The one in parenthesis is a two note chord, it is missing the 5th note in scale.
Talon has them all. Also, 10-10-12-13.

(2-3-3-5) I think is a keeper.
Thanks all.

-Sometimes I will use the palm of my right hand and press slightly to give the same affect as lifting your fingers from your left hand for the chop.
Sometimes I just play 2 of the notes depending on the next chord or who I'm playing with.
Anyone using 5-3-3-1? (g to e) I hold a and d strings with one finger. I don't have big hands, I use kind of small barre grip. Not a full chord but godd for chops.

5 3 3 1 (G to E)
To make a two note chord (as here), you need the 1 and 3 notes in scale, and drop the 5th note. This chord, in scale is: 5 1 5 1 (G to E). Leaving the 5th note and removing the 3rd. That creates some kind of tension, or unresolved something or other.. Can't remember exact terms, been awhile since I've done the theory thing.
You made me think though, and I thought of making another two note chord off of that...
2 3 3 1 (G to E)
It is 3 1 5 1 (G to E) in scale notes. I tried it works fine! You can even do it with pinky, avoiding the 3's with one finger.
Thanks for making me think! I will add this one to my homemade charts.
The new one is added.... Works fine....

I will often use 5-7-3-x (mute the E string) which is also missing the chord's 5th, but it's a chop chord you're after. I use that shape a lot with other chords, too.
Joy to all,
Ken

I'm not nit picking, but I think this is missing the root note(F). Looks like 5th note, then 3rd, then 5th again.
With a long stretch, you could add the 1 fret(F)on the E string.
New and final chart for F chords... #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

You're right. No root. Suffering from HUB today. Still works for a chop chord, though.
