I went and gave a real test to what I was told last week was a 1927 F4 and found this week was a 21. Played like a F4 should, had a truss rod neckand the Gibson Logo was not smaller as on 21's. All in all it was a way cool hour http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Oh I just wanted to ad that the price was $7,000.00 Canadian. Is that a good price and do you think it has a later neck because of the logo and truss rod http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

There are several F4s in the Archive with earlier serial numbers that also have truss rods. The price isn't out of line with what others are asking for F4s. A little cheaper than Gruhn, about the same as Elderly, a little more than Lowell Levinger or Chas. Johnson. It all depends on the condition ... if this one doesn't have any problems, then $7K Canadian is a decent price.
That's a nice vintage, can be a really good sound there. My favorite date range is late 21/early 22. Snakeheads, F4s, F2s..
