I've been looking at a 1922 Shutt mandolin on ebay, and would like to know what it's relative value should be,(based on condition and model)before I start bidding. Also how do they sound tonally,do they have good playability(in general)I really like the shape but don't know much about the Shutt.I know "Caviat Emptor" ,but would like some info.
Cheers,
MIKE B.

Can't really add much other than say I really like the body shape myself and take at a look at this one. (http://www.vintageinstruments.com/museum/shutt3fulpage.html)

There was a refinished one that sold for $350 (MC classifieds) about two years back. The seller said that it had exceptional
volume. Then it popped up a couple of months later with an installed pick-up (magnetic). They seem pretty rare but not
necessarilly valuable - from a monetary standard. I share your curiosity - but not with this particular specimen. But please report back if you get it!

That's the Thomas Flood blue one, right?

And then he had another heavily reworked one in the classifieds just last month.

"...the only original parts are the neck, neck block, rim set and the tuners."
