I'll be in LA this coming weekend, and thought I'd drop by the Topanga Fiddle and Banjo Contest (http://www.topangabanjofiddle.org/)...

Anyone else planning on attending?

Is it a fun festival? #Jamming, etc.?

Thanks in advance...

I haven't been to that one for probably 15 years, but it was always great fun with lots of jamming. They don't usually bring in big-name acts, so you get to hear a variety of great performers that don't get a lot of exposure. 20 years ago Darol Anger, Richard Greene, and Mark O'Connor were regular attendees, David Lindley used to come too.

Oh WOW! Thanks for posting this Spruce. #This is pretty close to where I live. #I think I'm going to try to go after church on Sunday. #Hopefully I can get the family to go.

I'll be heading down from Santa Barbara. #I've gone the last 5 or so years and i've always had quite a bit of fun. The only downside is that sometimes it can get really hot there. #If you'd like to meet up there, let me know.

Topanga is an experience not to be missed by any acoustic musician that can attend. Great fun and LOTS of jamming. Music Lesson Source will have a booth at Topanga this year explaining on-line lessons to people. We are under the trees with non-stop jamming all day...please stop by, say hello and join in.

I had a great time...

Played a lot with the band Whiskey Chimp...great fun.
"I Want to be Sedated" makes a great bluegrass tune... #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Played with a couple great Django players...

It's really a fun festival and highly recommended for anyone in the area.

Hope to see you next year...
