I'm not - but I've been there the last year they hosted IBMA!

I never seen so many pickers and talent in the hallways that was as good as (or in some cases better than) the acts at IBMA that year!

If you're a non-smoker, I'd avoid it like the plague...

A few times over the IBMA years the place got totally evacuated because the smoke alarms alerted the Louisville Fire Department that the place was on fire, which it kinda was...

Up in the room wings, there was so much ciggie smoke you couldn't see the wall on the far end of the hallway. #

Funny, made me want to pick all night.

But the cig smoke was fierce. I vividly remember Jimmy Martin holding court in the lobby wearing a red dinner jacket.

He'd also park his bus right out in front of the Galt (near the "no parking" sign), and invite folks in there for a round....

Smoking was not an issue when I did the Banks of the Ohio Fest at the Galt House. We've had the Non-smoking campaign making its way through Louisville businesses. The Galt House has been renovated too. Hope to se y'all there.
I too remember Jimmy Martin wearing the red suit sitting in the lobby holding court. Converstaions were very interesting. I have a video of him in the lobby at SPBGMA which, well, never mind!

First things first... I'll be there both Friday and Saturday.

Stricter no smoking laws in place now should take care of most of the smoke. #I was at the festival they had there last year and it wasn't a problem.

This is gonna be a good'n... #Y'all come pick with us.

I recall being in a couple rooms where you could hardly see because of the cigarette smoke; fortunately the hallways (the year I was there; 2004 I think) weren't too bad.

My cousins - because of a room-booking SNAFU by the hotel - were set up in the 'Presidential Suite' near the top floor of the 'quiet' wing. It included a HUGE meeting-type room and we had some great jams up there - with NO smoke. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
