Hello,

My father is Neil LeVang, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Dad was nominated in 1982 for the American Academy of Country Music Awards for "Specialty Instrument" (mandolin). He has a couple of mandolins he asked me to document. I have been able to document a 1919 Gibson A2 SN 56975. However, he has another that I cannot find any information on. Hopefully, you all can help. If you email me, I can send photos.

Thanks in advance.

Oops,

The back of the headstock reads:

"Monogram" nad the number 6 below it.

Thanks,

Mark

Photos would help, I guess. I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here. What do you mean by "document"?

Thank you for your reply.

My dad was a player, not a collector. He doesn't know what he has. He needs to document his instruments for insurance reasons. Anyone that would like to help, please email me and I will reply with the hi-res pictures.

Thanks,

Mark

Is that Monogram a bowlback? George Bauer of Philadelphia made a model with a stamp on the back of the peghead like this one from 1898.

You would prob need a written appraisal for insruance purposes. Let us know where you are geographically and maybe someone can tell you who to go to.
