Can anyone provide info on the Shepard mandolins, Made up in Blackburg, Va.
I see he has a couple adv in the classifies but never hear of him as a buider.

The pic he /her has in the eye-candy section is unusual looking but it could just be the lighting. It seems to have a very circular recurve area...which BTW doesnt mean a thing to me but something I noticed is all. I have never seen or heard one in person.

No i have not played it ,there is a sound clip on his website of one tho.

I played the one at Gruhn's. It sounds suprisingly good- good woody mids- plays well too. The finish on this one is less than stellar, but they have it marked down to $1350. I seriously considered it before finding a better deal on my Weber Yellowstone from a private individual.

I played an early one a few years back. It sounded great, but the hardware he was using at the time was cheap.
