varnish or not

Hello everyone,
Just upgraded my mandolin to a Weber Yellowstone with a varnish finish. What are your opinions of a varnished mandolin? Thanks for the input. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

They're great. But not for everyone. Where you live, what you plan on doing, how the mandolin already sounds, etc. should also be considered. I plan on living in Thailand for a better portion of my life. Varnish would be stupid over there. Wish I could though, like the look.
