Has anyone come accross a device that will fit into a 1/4" wide truss rod slot and expand to hold the neck to various patterns and jigs while machining?
Thanks,

I think you need to invent such a thing. This could finance your retirement.

The truss rod slot is the most convenient thing to use for locating the neck during many machining opperations

Having worked in instrument manufacturing for thirty years now, when making production tooling like at Fender Ibanez Jackson etc often something like metal channel from hardware stores or something like this is sourced and used that fits the truss rod slot exactly

You just find what you need or make it to fit the situation

Places like McMaster Carr or Harbor Freight will be a great source of raw materials

I dont think you need to go the expanding routine, on notmal tooling the channel is located and the neck is held in place with a Destaco clamp (spelling)
