Does anyone know of a store in northern Colorado or Denver area where a person can get a good deal on a mandolin? Also, are there any good makers in the area?

My old stompin' ground when I was stationed at Ft. Carson in the sixties was the Denver Folklore Center (http://www.denverfolklore.com/) -- Harry Tuft's still in business forty years later. They advertise "Gibson, Weber, Mid-Missouri, Trinity College" mandolins. Don't know how many they stock -- it's a small place -- but they do list a Gibson Sam Bush model that was the 2005 raffle prize at a festival. Worth a call or visit, IMHO.

The only place I know of is Kit's "Pickin' Parlor" up in Arvada.

The Olde Towne Pickin Parlor is definitely a must visit...don't know if Wildwood Music in Louisville carries a lot of mandos but when I lived in the area a few years ago they cranked out a ton of Martin, Taylor, Fender, and Gibson guitars at good prices.

another nod for the pick'n parlor...last time I was in he had 30 or so mando's on the wall (and at least 100 guitars) and a couple were made by local shops.....
