My wife and I are coming to Kentucky for our vacation next week (May 13 to 22). We're going to be all over the state but I know I'll be in Louisville the 13th and 14th and in Lexingotn on Monday the 17th. I'll be bringing my mando.

Can anyone point me to some jam sessions? I'd love to get to meet some of you and play together.

Thanks

Greg

Too bad you won't be in town the 12th there is a great Jam at BBC in St Mathews (Mike Cleveland showed up last week ). Thursday night the 13th there is a jam at the bulldog it's in Fairdale. I've only been to this one twice and it usually has a nice crowd. But it's also the Bean Blossom festival in Indiana so allot of the regular pickers will be there. The one at BBC is my favorite nice place good people great beer can't ask for more than that.

Oh yeah and you should stop by FQMS in louisville while your there. THey have a nice collection of mandos and they let you play till your hearts content. Of course the mandolin Gurus Mike and Michelle won't be there both players both excellent very knowledgeable (it's Bean Blossom week maybe you should just head to Indiana he he).:D

Oh Man, I was in Indiana over Thanksgiving and I drove through Bean Blossum on our way to go hiking around Nashville IN. We went to the Bill Monroe museum there. I had no idea the festival is next week.

And what is FQMS? (obviously a music store but what's FQMS stand for so I can look it up?)

There's a session in Lexington, KY every Tuesday and Saturday night at the Crestwood Christian Christian Church. You can check this link for directions.

Never been, but a buddy of mine who lives in Lexington goes and says some nights it's a good session. I think that link has some photos of the jams as well.

Hope this helps.

There's always Rosine, KY, Bill Monroe's birth place. They have a jam every Friday night (or at least used to, I haven't made it up there in a year). They have turned Monroe's old home place into a museum and he is buried there in the cemetery. The jam is in the old barn downtown.
I have also heard that they have a jam in Litchfield at the courthouse on Fridays.
