View Full Version : Gibson a/f9 value
Can anybody give me a rough estimate on the value of a used Gibson A/F9? I've been thinking of upgrading from my Morgan Monroe, but after looking at the price of new I though it might be better to go with a used one.
Another reason for going with one of these is because they are almost bare so I can do some upgrading on it.
Thanks,
Micah

have seen used a-9's go as cheap as 900 but typically more like 1100ish. as for the f-9s used -maybe 1800 base maybe more.

I've seen a used f9 listed as cheap as $1500, but it had the neck finish removed. I'd say most go for $1750-$2300.

i have seen a few A9's for $800-$1000 as well, it's not that rare. also check out the flatirons- the A-styles can be found for the same price as an A9 and are the equivalent (usually) to the old A5-G's.
i've also seen a few F5 flatirons (i get the models confused, but it is the same as the F-5G) go for under $2k as well, and most cheaper than a new gibson would be.
while the 9's series gibsons are great, the flatirons would give you a little better finish options than the gibson 9 series would.
no matter what, play it first or get an approval period. good luck

I got a used one (a9) for 1k right here by posting a want ad on the cafe classifieds maybe a month ago. At first I wasn't sure but a few hours on it totally hooked me, the A9 is a great instrument! I picked it up because I read here that they were really good for the money and I wanted a second (really fourth) mando for around the house... Since I actually sold off the rest of the herd and got two more Gibsons and am very happy but the A9 is a great mando expect to pay $900-$1100 like the others said but I promose you'll love it (I hope). I also looked for F9's at time too and they were between $1600-$2000 used...
Good luck, PJ

There's two sweet nines on ebay ending soon, both look really nice and are priced pretty good, the A looks like it'll be cheap.
