One of my favorite Irish/Dead bands (actually, the only one as far as I know), Wake The Dead, is showing a new CD on their website:

New Wake the Dead CD (http://www.wakethedead.org/pages/CD_3.html)

If you already know the band, you'll want to get this, I'm sure, and if you don't already know them, check them out. Several great musicians doing Grateful Dead songs in seamless blends with Irish tunes. They really do a masterful job of arranging the tunes together.

The tunes have plenty of great mando content with Paul Kotapish (a frequent contributor here at the Cafe) playing mando in the mix, and Danny Carnahan adding a lot of octave mando.

Great news Jim, and thanks for the link -- I especially look forward to hearing Paul's work on Music For A Found Harmonium on track 2. (Love that tune!)

Thanks for the plug, Jim. We're pretty pleased with the new CD, and folks have been very positive with their feedback so far. We are definitely one of the odder bands in the Bay Area, but people who come to hear us seem to love our weird amalgam of traditional themes and instrumentation with the Grateful Dead songbook.

Hey Paul,

Congrats on the new CD!

"We are definitely one of the odder bands in the Bay Area..."

That could be seen as quite a tall claim... LOL!!!!

All the best,
