Any comandos going to this gathering (http://www.boveeheil.com/Bluff%20Country%20Gathering.htm)?

I'll be there with fiddle and mando looking to pick as much as possible.

Fred,
I'm hoping to get there this year. #I noticed that there are a couple of mandolin workshops on the schedule. #Also (and at the risk of having rotten fruit thrown at me), I may also bring my $3 garage-sale-special banjo (plastic-body Harmony) and try one of the beginner clawhammer workshops.

If I go, it would be fun to spend some time jamming with you.

Wish I could make it, that sounds like fun!

But I am saving-up to come back for a canoe trip in the summer, which should also be fun!

Bottom line: Minnesota is fun!

Joe: yeah they're starting to get the msg on mandolins. Previous years have had little or no offerings. Now we have to convince Bob and Gail to offer more than just beginner to mix it up a bit. Cool deal on the clawhammer too--if you want to listen to my rudimentary fiddle scratchings, I'll listen to your banjo http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Mingus: If you drive up 35W to get to your launching spot--and you've got extra time--send me a pm or email me at fkeller(at)scicable.net. I'm about 50 miles S of Duluth.

Hey Fred, we do go up 35. I'll let you know.

I have "portaged" a mandolin on the trip the last couple of years! A bit of a pain, but worth it. Makes you pick faster with all those bugs bitin' your hands!

I registered for the gathering a couple of weeks ago, and this past weekend I made sure I could fit an air mattress into the back of my car with the seats folded down (just in case I stop jamming long enough to grab a few hours of shuteye).

Is anybody besides me and Fred going?

I'm definitely looking forward to meeting some cafe'ers. I'm staying in Preston (closest lodging I could find) but I'm sure I'll be jamming late. I'm torn as to which mando I should bring. I know my '29 black face Gibson is more "traditional" but I have more rapport with my Brentrup. Any thoughts? Can't bring both, I'm afraid.

Feel free to pm or email me (fkeller (at) scicable.net). I'll see you down there.

I'm heading down Thursday morning. I hope to get there early enough to get a spot in the municipal campground. I'll be staying in my car (an air mattress fits nicely in the back with the rear seats folded down) and playing my newly-refurbished Kentucky KM-200S.

Hope to see you guys there!
