Saw one today and liked how it sounded right off the rack. maybe it was the mahogany,not sure. any input?

I like them. I think they have a nice, mellow tone.
I hear they are a little tougher to set up than others, but I don't do my own adjustments.
My third favorite easily available, non-astronomical priced brand.

I can confirm the very poor (non-existent) factory setup. This is true of all the Morgan Monroe's. Buy from a shop that sets it up and this is not a factor. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
