somebody is offering me a 1913 F4 mandolin without bridge and tailpiece cover. Besides a few dings... it seems to be OK with OHC. It belonged to his grandfather who played this mando in the 20s and 30s. What would be a fair price for it?
thanks,

Vintage Guitar Price Guide 2004 says $4000-4700 in excellent condition. Less those vintage parts should knock down the price somewhat. is this a friend you are buying it from? Take that into consideration. Original tp covers are at least $100 if you can get one -- I ahve seen some on eBay. You prob have to find someone to make a decent bridge oif you wanted a repro. That would certainly cost something.
I would say that a fair price (at least in the USA) would be something like $3500 or so.
