We have a new music store that recently opened in Muscatine, Iowa called 'Round The Bend Music. The owners are relocating to Muscatine from Hannibal, MO and are Chris and Melanie Foss. They're real nice folks and intend to get some business from the QC, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, etc. They're the only folk instrument shop in Iowa, apparently.

It's a strictly acoustic folk instrument store with several mandos/banjos/fiddles/guitars/h. dulcimers/lap dulcimers/whistles and pvc flutes/strings/picks/books/vids/cd's...

VERY nice to have a store here now. I was getting depressed because I realized I had moved to a town w/no music store and no barbecue restaurant, but now I have at least one of them...

They also started a fiddle tune jam (no singin) on Thurs. nights at 7:00, so any local folks, please come support the new owners and their store. We had a pretty good session there last night.

Foss makes HD's and bowed psaltries and has a site: www.songbirdhd.com

Thanks!

I hope you were tongue in cheek referring to yourself on the two point, otherwise you're scaring beginners like me away. Perhaps I could bring some Jim's ribs (Have you tried those Dave?) and use sticky fingers as an excuse for bad playing. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm in eastern iowa too, but we're 3 1/2 hours north of Muscatine. Up here in Decorah our local store, Kephart's, only has a few low-end guitars. But an hour or so away in LaCrosse, WI is Dave' Guitar Shop which has a very serious assortment of Martin's, Taylor's, etc. and usually a few medium mandos, including a couple of Eastmans last time I was there.

I'll definitely stop by Round the Bend the next time I get the chance though. Thanks for the heads up.
