View Full Version : Where to advertise
I have been making guitar and mandolin parts and templates with my CNC router and wanted to know where would people on this forum recommend I advertise.
Bret
Are you wanting to advertise on the cafe or in general?

I don't know about advertising but drop me a line at rjgilpin@yahoo.com. I would be interested to find out what you've got working w/ your CNC.

I might suggest Guitarmaker magazine, and check with the GAL about their publication.
The "accessories" section of the classifieds here would be a good place for your mandolin related stuff, and would likely get you in touch with builders who build guitars and such too; and you can't beat the price!

Interesting topic because I build some parts myself. I know there are a lot of people out there building just one or two specialty items. I wonder if some type of cooperative luthier supply website would work. Anyone know of anything like that?
I wonder if the website could show cooperatively in one booth at shows like NAMM and such? Sorry. Just thinking aloud.

Your own website with attention paid to doing those things that will get you in the search engines would be cheap and effective.
Lots of people use the search engines when looking for one of a kind and handmade parts.

Yes, post on your site, assuming you have one. If you carry lots of items that is the easiest way to "display" them on the 'Net.
I would also be interested in seeing what you are making.

You can certainly advertise you mandolin parts on the cafe's classifieds. There's a lot of traffic there.
Building your own site is also a great way to advertise, as people will bookmark and link to your site if they're happy with your services... It works exponentially. Drop me a line if you want website advice http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Bret -
A really good place to be noticed is on these forums (fora?). #I'm assuming #you have a Web site with your stuff profusely illustrated and described. #If not - that's your first and most important step. #Then, you contribute meaningful #chatter to every forum that interests you, and sign off with a link to your stuff. The more of these links you get spread around on the Net, the more Google sees you.
It goes like-a this:

I am getting some great ideas. I think the website might help greatly and I will look into Mando Cafe.
Thanks all.

I certainly know that this thread is not the place for your ad but I am going to ask what items it is that you make.
