Last night I changed strings on my Mid-MO M2 (put on GHS silk and steel strings, which I have used before). I noticed a problem with the tuners for the A strings. They are rising up about 1/4 inch from the front of the headstock. I can see the ribbing on the tuners that appears to hold these in place in the wood. This is not happening on any of the other tuners.
I am relatively new to the Mando world (been playing 1.5 years) and know very little about the mechanics of the Mando.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Actually its an M4 not an M2, although that probably does not make any difference

Correct me if I misunderstood, but I think you are talking about the tuner bushings, not the tuners themselves. The bushing is the metal "collar" that the tuning peg goes through. If this is the case, remove the tuning machines. Hold the bushing in place with your finger. Go into the tuner hole through the back of the peghead, very carefully, and put a couple of very tiny drops of superglue around the rim of the bushing where the metal meets the wood. Do not get superglue on the inside of the bushing where the tuning peg touches. If you do, remove it before you replace the tuners. If the bushing comes out again, you may have a problem with your hole alignment.
Another thing you could do is contact Mid-mo. I have heard they are amazingly accomodating, even if you didn't buy the instrument new. They may fix it for you.

Johnny,
Thanks for the help. I think I'll call Mid-Mo before trying the Super Glue trick. Problem is, now I may have to feed my growing MAS by using this problem as an excuse to upgrade.

I'd definately call Mid Mo. They are great people and will have your mando back to you with new strings even for free in a couple days.
