I've got a new Rose F4 (since Apr.) and I really like it. Nice workmanship and very affordable. He used some ageing agents on the binding to yellow it and it has a single piece back, Allen tailpiece, etc. Nice axe!

I have my second on order , and seeing how I own , have owned , played many great mandos- Brentrup ,Givens , Gibson , Weber , Gilchrist etc. These mandolins are a great deal , especially the current ones coming out - superb tone , good workmanship - there's not a better deal out there IMHO. Check out the pics on " Post a Picture " thread - is that sweet or what.

I live near Darby and one time went over, actually to have him chek out some cracks on another instrument. Anyway he had one of his mandos in "from thr field" for a setup job or something and let me noodle around with it. One word: killer. Loads of chop and a tone that was really great for BG.

Nice guy, too.

I think I've seen that he has made an F-4 style.

Mike Andes of "Nothin' Fancy" was playing one when I saw him in Lagrange Ga. a few weeks ago. It looked and sounded good in the festival atmosphere.
You can send him email at mike@nothinfancybluegrass.com and get his personal opinion.

doanepoole, if it had a really fat neck, then the one you played was my #10.

I love mine and it has held it's own with all comers...

I tried an early model but it was not for me. The fit and finish left a lot to be desired. However, from the pics I've seen lately that aspect certainly seems to have improved.
