I have been listening to Mindy Smith lately (some of you may have heard her song "Come to Jesus") on Napster and found a nice surprise. The following songs have some really nice mando work. I am not sure who the player is, but they did some nice playing. It is cool to hear the mando so prominant in the mix as well.

Little Devil
Out of Control - live version on Napster
You Know I Love You Baby - this one's nice and bluesy
Fighting for it All - live version on Napster

I think it's mostly Lex Price doing all the mando work...

there's lots of great room to work in contemporary folk music with the mandolin...and it's a nice break from bluegrass in all of it's forms and configurations.

It's all good though no matter what you're into...

You can check some music videos of Mindy and Lex performing a few of her songs in the AT&T Blue Room studio, as well as Mindy talking about her music, etc.

There are also several tunes performed by Chris Thile and his band along with Chris interviews.

David,

Thanks for the tip on the AT&T Blue Room, I had never heard of that before. It was interesting to see Lex Price playing with a capo on Out Loud. That may explain why I am having a hard time figuring out some of his mando parts.
