While it is a fiddle web site, I always check out the "tune of the month". It is usually something interesting, and occationally wonderful. And best of all, in addition to the sheet music there is an audio file of the tune, played on fiddle - not a soul-less midi rendition.

These would be good practice tunes for someone just learning to read sheet music.

I know what you mean about the souless midi's. When I learn something from the tabedit file (I am forcing myself to switch off the tab and use the notation portion) I sound like a drone, until I find an mp3 to get the right inflection

As a kid it took me a while to realize there is SO MUCH more to music than getting the notes right.

Nowadays it is even more obvious - any computer can get the notes right - it is what we do beyond (or instead) of that which makes us flesh and blood musicians.

I especially like Hope's (Hope Greitzer of happyhollow music) phrasing - she can make the most mechanical sewing machine hornpipe sound wonderful.
