Frank will be visiting me in Minneapolis next month, and we're going to have a workshop at my home in Minneapolis. This is going to be a four-hour workshop limited to 5 people and will be held from 11 a.m - 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 5. We want to keep it small so that everyone can get their questions answered and receive some personal attention from Frank. Cost for the workshop is $100. Let me know if you're interested and I'll provide you with additional details. I encourage attendees to let me know in advance what you'd like to see covered and I'll try and make sure it gets on the agenda. Frank loves to share his incredible wealth of mandolin knowledge, plus if you'd like he can teach you to back talkwards just like hisself!

Also, June will mark Frank's 70th birthday, and I'll be hosting a party in the evening on the same day (June 5th) to celebrate both his birthday and that of my lovely wife, who is having a milestone birthday this month (I won't reveal her age, however). Any and all cafe members who would like to attend should write me at mando@designstein.com for additional details. There definitely will be some pickin' goin' on.

Finally, if you'd like a private lesson with Frank, let me know, as Frank will some time available.

Hope to see some of you next month!

Wow, we'll have both Nebraska and Wisconsin represented. I'm pretty sure Mr. Brentrup and his lovely wife Maureen will be at the evening party.

I made a list of things Frank could potentially cover during the workshop. Attendees, you should let me know which ones interest you the most.

Right hand technique and exercises to develop dexterity
Left hand technique and exercises
Right hand - left hand coordination
Plucking (where Frank uses his middle finger to pluck a non-adjacent string to the one he's hitting with the pick - very cool effect)
Crosspicking
Duo picking
Melodic style
Alternate tunings
Frank's approach to backup
(and of course) Monroe style
