I need a case for my TC -- I'd like a hardshell case, but I haven't had any luck finding one.

What are folks using and where did you get them? Thanks

Hardshell for all my mandos...I prefer the ones that are externally shaped like the instrument..not much into "boxy" looking cases, but that is purely subjective.

Cain't understand "Gig bags".....lol

I have a used, black, arch-top (typical TKL type) hardshell mandola case in good shape that I am planning to sell. This is a standard A-style case designed to suit old Gibsons or mandolas built on similar specs, so I'm not sure how would fit a TC. I haven't put on the classified yet, but may do so soon. Get in touch if you wish.

Have you tried Elderly or First Quality Music?

Saga sells a hardshell case for their TC mandola. I went to their website but there was no information regarding purchase of this case other than buying the instrument.

You might want to contact Saga at this link (http://www.sagamusic.com/contact_us.asp) and see if they can direct you to a source for their cases. They don't sell direct, only through dealers, but they might be able to give you a lead.

Bruce,

I sent you a PM, but I may not have an active email address here...don't know.

My TC dimensions are:

Total length = 28 1/2"
Body width = 11 1/2" by length ~15"
depth = 2 1/2"

Thanks

I will measure case and let you know, either here or if I get message. Chacking out Saga as suggested might be a good option for you too.

Great--thanks.

Thanks for the link Allen--I've submitted my request.

Inside dimensions of my case are: 28 1/2" long, 12 1/4" wide at wide spot, and 3" deep (not including top). It's teardrop shaped and the body portion is about 15 1/2" long. If interested, I'll try and get pics and contact through member forum. The best option, of course, would be to get the case TC uses to guarantee fit -- I expect it could be ordered through TC dealer.

Sounds like a near-perfect fit. I wouldn't need photos--just a description of any issues: non-functioning latches/hinges and separation/delamination, and price.

Thanks. All things being equal, I prefer to buy used whenever I can!

No issues whatsoever. I sent message directly via members board.

Do you think my TC will fit at 28-1/2"?

It would probably just fit, but snugly - I measured length of 28 1/2" from the pile at each end. My mandola, a custom arch-top, had standard Gibson H-size body but the headstock was a little longer - overall it is about 29". It fit, but in order for end pin to fit too, about a 1/2" of the pile lining had been peeled over at that spot so the end pin was actually against the inside of the case - not very desirable if the case was ever dropped on its end!! (hence, I have custom-made Calton case for it now). Fortunately, the lining was not cut or damaged and I simply reglued back in place. Case is fine, one slight nick from the vinyl on the top - that's about it. Latches, hinges, etc. are all fine and lock still has the keys. Did you get my email message?

I did get your email, but I don't know if you received my reply.

It sounds like it will work, being that my dola is about a half-inch shorter than yours. I'm agreeable on the price.

No, I didn't get reply yet, but will look for. If it doesn't show up, I'll send another message including my email.
