I could be wrong, but that looks like masking tape on the fingerboard

It's "Tone-Tape", designed to isolate the mandolin from contact with your fingers so that the instrument is able to vibrate more freely. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hi Maddog, the stain color you have chosen looks fantstic. I love the stains Andrew uses. The top, the back,the sides and of course the headstock look great. I am sure the excitement is overwheling as your mandolin gets closer to completion. Please post more photos.

thanx tattiemando, I am getting excited about finally seeing and playing this mandolin. Have you recieved your mowry yet? I know it had a great distance to travel. I`ll post more photos as they arrive. mark.
