I have paticipated in the competition in the past but now I'm too scared. I do participate with a band and have a good time but not in the individual competition.

I will watch for your band on stage and cheer for you!!!

I Hope to see you there. Last year the rain was heavy. I hope the weather is better this year.

Hello Vieux Jean,

So you're preparing your trip to the USA and bringing there 2 mandolins you made. Don't forget to pay the customs duties, ha, ha, ha ... just kidding ! Will you take with you the "France Bluegrass 2004" CD you play on ? A bientôt.

straight-a,
The competition is about like anywhere else. You do have to preregister to be able to play soooo if you get your entrance form sent in pretty soon you'll be able to enter. I think they have a web site you can request a form or maybe even do it on line(not very likely). One of the requirements is you have to play traditional or public domain tunes. No copywritten music or original stuff. The competition is very tuff. There are some awesome mandolin pickers who show up for this thing. This festival gets bigger every year(it seems to).
They do the individual competitions in the afternoon and the bands at night. One night they do Bluegrass first then Old Time. The next night it is the opposite. In the individual, you only play one tune. I can't remember them ever having a tie breaker or anyone having to play more than one tune. The band competition you really should keep to the same personel in the band and you play one tune fri and one tune sat. Is that what you meant? Hope i answered your question.
