Wow. Amazing stuff for a novelty routine. Chuck

I wouldn't call it a novelty routine. I saw this guy when I was in Las Vegas; he is a professional performer.

I wonder if everything is in the Key of C.

Wonder how long it took him to perfect that trick? I don't think I'm gonna be trying that on my mando though! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Let me hold your mandolin and you can throw ping pong balls at it. When I saw him in Vegas back in 2000, he did a similar routine, but it was much faster. At one point, they lowered the lights and he used these glow-in-the-dark balls - it was just a blur.

It's just an act. He's not doing more than triggering the next note programmed by hitting the keyboard with a ball. Wherever it lands it plays the correct note.
Wish I could do that on a mandolin.

Good point.
Ah, but I once saw a performer (Dmitri the Clown) in the 70s bounce a ball off the fingerboard of a mandolin and play a nice series of chord changes. He did a lot of other amazing stuff, but that one was my favorite.
