Never thought I would trade the Collings MF5, #69, I purchased from Kim at Cotton Music, but the Altman #20 that Clay had at Fiddlers Green Memphis is the holy grail for me so I traded with Clay. Very nice guy to deal with. I hear Bob Altman will be at SPBGMA with a new crop of F5's. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

So, now you own three of them? You already had #11 and #16. And now #20? What's the real story?

Real Story! I have been hooked on Altman's since I played #6. I now consider Bob a friend, but I do not get a special deal on them.

I never suggested that you got a special deal on them, but you do own three of them - that would make you a collector, not a player. I will agree that Bob is making some phenomenal mandolins, but I have only one left hand and one right hand - I can only play one "holy grail" at a time. That leaves the rest of the stable crying for play time.

Jerry, maybe he's starting a fan club ... everyone needs a hobby.
