Wish I was! Years before I even thought of playing mandolin, I used to hang out there with John Stiernberg, Don's brother. If it's like it used to be, EVERYONE's in town for it. It was like seeing a who's who in music. I was once talking to Eddie Van Halen at NAMM when he got a phone call from the Leonard Bernstein. I think they were scoring a movie together or something.

Packing the bags tonight & leaving the subzero midwestern tundra (3 inches of snow to scoop this morning) for California. (Leaving Mrs. Mandohack will do the shoveling while I'm gone.) I'll be your very own roving report with pictures & insight from the mando perspective. Let me know if you want me to spy on anything.

Anyone intersting in town for NAMM...
Probably so, and I'll be there too, as it turns out. Got a cheap plane ticket and a place to stay, so I figured; might as well...
NAMM shows are fun for a day or so, but after that, I'm ready for some peace and quiet.

Will she be using one of those carbon-fiber mandos for a shovel? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Bring a jacket, it's cold this week. I am actually wearing Uggs this week instead of sandals. I wish my wife and I could attend NAMM once before we move away from the area, the convention center is only a few miles away. Maybe someday they can have one day of the week for players as well.

For those of you who are going to NAMM stop by the Luthier's Consortium, sharing a booth with Allied Lutherie (Hall E 1615) and the usual after hours jam suite. Mostly guitars but I will have a couple mandolins there.
