View Full Version : Thinkpad problem and nowhere to turn

I know this isn't a mandolin post, but it is a problem with my new IBM Thinkpad which is the only way I'll have to view the Cafe - which is potentially a huge problem.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the damn "PrtSc" button work on this little SOB. Called IBM. Oddly enough they weren't that helpful.

Does anyone know of a forum where I could get answers to such a question? Or, information somewhere on how to use the keyboard.

Any help is much appreciated.

P.S. I looked in the "manual" - which is really an overstatement in terms. They wrote 4.5 pages on how to clean your machine, but nothing on what each key does, how to use Fxn keys, etc.

have the T40 at work, the PrtSc button is toggled via holdng down the Shift key and pressing the button. Mando content: ain't none http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

AlanN - thanks for the reply, but that's one of the first things I tried and it didn't work. IBM said try it again - didn't work.

Damn Boys! We're in a tight spot!

Ah, but it does. What you've done is captured the on-screen data and sent it to cache. If you now open MS Word, start a New Document and press CTRL+V, you'll see the captured data pasted.

On my ThinkPad, the command is Crtl + PrtSc, versus Shift + PrtSc as in the previous post. Then you open a document (Word or PowerPoint) and do Crtl + V. Unfortunately, Help Desks are notoriously un-helpful. Good luck.

Well, I ain't real sure I'd want to "but" Scott's mug or anything else. I'd want to see a picture of him first.

AlanN if you were a goat, I'd have to skip church on Sunday morning.

My StinkPad is now once again a ThinkPad, thanks to a lot of good advice from ya'll.
