I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is, but quite frankly, it's an opportunity for me to get on a soap box and say that a lot of people are really tired of all the "let's bash this or that instrument brand name" threads. For some people, a Fender or some other no-namer may be as far as their budget ever allows, and they may be thrilled with that. Good for them. That we need to come out here and dish someone's choice doesn't personally sit well with me, especially the amount of it that's gone on of late.
Please, let's not use this for that purpose.

I too think I've liked just about every mandolin. Each one has at least one redeeming quality, and usually has one thing that is pretty darn great. For example, it's tough to beat the action on a Kentucky....
Scott is right. Even though this appears to be a light-hearted slam, it is still a slam. I wonder how it would make some kid who saved his lawn mowing money for a Fender (or other brand) to come here and see someone making jabs. Music is about just that - music, and not the gear that we play it with.
I make a really nice living at what I do, but I just spent $61 on my first mandolin, simply because I chose to. I could have bought anyone that I wanted, and probably will someday, but the deal I got has introduced me to not only the instrument itself, but the wonderful world of learning how to adjust it and make it better.
No offense meant here and I don't mean to come off like a do-gooder who's throwing stones, becuase I threw my share in the Gibson thread, but let's all be cool here and just enjoy our instruments...even the Fenders.

The tennis coach/clown Vic Braden once said something like "No matter how inexpensive your racket, and no matter how poorly it is strung, it is equal to or above your capacity to use it".

It was supposed to be a anti bash as I even said Fender was a good begginer.I feel after being a beginner, one get's MAS.
The only mandolin I said I didn't like was in a pawn shop with no ID and it was really poorly made.
After playing many mando's around the world, I guess by my statement it was supposed to be that they are have possitive traits.
So I am sorry if you thought it was supposed to be mando bash, which it is not.
