well, my wife decided to give me one of my presents early because she ran out of wrapping paper, so i lucked up and got this awesome Bill Monroe print that she picked up in Bristol, TN.

I couldn't believe she picked it out, i told her "this is great, you know i love bill monroe" to which she replied "oh, that's Bill Monroe? i was just trying to find something for the room that had someone playing a mandolin"

willard gayheart is the name on it and i think he has a website. he has a series of bill monroe prints that i saw at Rhythm & Roots in Bristol this past summer, and all of them are really nice.

this one was my favorite and i couldn't believe she happened to pick it out! oh well, i guess there's no point, but here's a here's a pic of the print and Merry Christmas! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Willard Gayheart is from the Galax/Hillsville, VA area and has done many Monroe and other bluegrass people in his artwork. He is also a pretty good guitar picker too. Nice man to meet. Last I heard he still had his bluegrass band in the VA area. This looks like the 2005 series he has been doing for the Bluegrass Boys reunions each year. I've got the 2002 "I'm On My Way Back..." which shows Monroe holding his Loar and waving with his old Rosine homeplace in the background. Mine is signed and numbered and was given to me by one of the Bluegrass Boys to hang in my Monroe Museum. Willard is really good at details even in the mandolin.

Awesome print, I'm listening to Ol'Bill right now(Live @ Mechanics Hall) I've gone to Rythym and Roots the last two years and is probably the best festival I go to. Where is the guy who sells these prints?
