I'd like to learn some classical pieces on mandolin, but I'm lost as far as what pieces to learn, and I'm not very knowledgeable on classical music in general. Is there a list of pieces that most everyone knows and starts out with? I've learned Bach's Minuet in G, but that's it so far. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to learn?
You might consider the Beethoven works for mandolin. The adagio in C minor is not difficult - even I can play it. For non-mand-specific stuff, the early Suzuki books for violin have some charming bits, though purists will condemn me for looking outside the mandolin literature.
Looks like ngladd is contemplating a major list of works that would be the answer to your request, but I can't speak to how soon it might appear.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not looking necessarily for mandolin-specific pieces, just anything that'd be a good starting point for learning some classical stuff. I actually have Suzuki book 1 in my house, so I'll have to look through that tonight.
