View Full Version : how does this work
have been too busy to really get into this project thing, but love the concept. i've skimmed some of the threads, and there is mention of a yahoo site, and it looks like folks are sharing tabs and recording/posting their versions.
would love to get involved- how do i do it?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif
Doing what you just did ira http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif You are now officially involved.
Craig has started a wonderful project here for any and all beginners and interested parties. Each month, we vote on tune as a group and agree to learn it. When you feel that you have it where you want it to be, then you make a MP3 recording, and go to Yahoo Mandolin Project Group (http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/mandolinproject/) , register and upload your MP3 into the appropriate file. From there Craig will export it to The Mandolin Project Page (http://www.mandolinproject.150m.com/) where we all can download each others recordings and give feedback.
This group is very involved and the support is phenomenal.
PS. Craig is on holidays for the next week and half, so there won't be any new recordings uploaded till he returns.
harlan, you are my response man today! thanks,
The project is great fun Ira, now get going with Cattle in the Cane! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Feel free to lay down some tracks for Sally Goodin' and Cherokee Shuffle too is you are so inclined! I want to hear that Kennaquair (spelling wrong prob. sorry) mando that you had built!
not familiar with alot of tunes others talk about, but like the sound of cherokee shuffle. i'll get that kennaquhair (you were close) practicin right away.
This is Cool! I like hearing all the different styles of the same tune, it's good for learning new songs. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I too have just discovered this project, how the heck I missed it during my almost daily review of the cafe beats me.
I will try to get involved, this is just what I needed, a support group giving me a push (or a swift kick in the butt works too! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )
Hopefully I will attack Fishers Hornpipe for June, and I vote for Old Joe Clark for July.
Great concept, thx to Craig and everyone! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
i know this is dumb, but i dont have a recorder thing to record myslef. ive learned some of the songs but i have nothing to record it with!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
do you have a microphone for your pc? Or are you looking for a program to record yourself with? My microphone is an extremely cheap looking (well, it's actually very inexpensive as well) thing that came with some pc. Plugged it in, downloaded "Audacity" (a free recording program) and bam, i was in business.
no. sadly this computer was from an office and it is several years old...we need a new one. i wish i had a microphone though! i imgaine you can buy one at a comp. store though for not TOO much money i guess...anyone else have any suggestions on type/brand?
get a cheap one. i have one a buddy gave me. it's just a standard cheap-o that comes with some computers. start with that and see how it goes.
would like to hear your work!
