nut slots

are all mandolin nuts standard size as far as the slits for the strings? wondering since the g strings run anywhere from .032 to .o40 thats .08 difference. so if you had ultra light strings could you go to heavys without modifieing slots ?If you didnt do anything to the nut and put on say J74s would it buzz or cause problems? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

I'd say if it's too skiny, you'd need to fix it, or you'd probably break strings or have a really annoying setup. Same for too wide (for the strings), you might get buzzes but it depends..
